Sweet patato lovers pay attention! I found the best way to make delicious and crunchy sweet patato fries? I have truggled with getting this right and that’s why I’m so happy to share my perfect sweet patato fries method with you today. These sweet patato fries are a lot healthier then the fries you normally get at you local fastfood store because we bake these in the oven and we don’t use a lot of oil to prepare them! So do you want to make these perfect crunchy sweet patato fries this weekend? Let me share my tips with you!

5 TIPS FOR SWEET PATATO FRIES

TIP 1: DON’T MAKE THE FRIES TO BIG.

Make sure you cut small strips of the sweet patato when you create the fries, about 1 cm wide. You can remove the skin of the patato or not, just what you like. Make sure to wash the potatoes when you choose to make sweet patato fries with the skin on. Make sure all the fries are about the same size so they will be done at the time.

TIP 2: LET THE FRIES SOAK IN COLD WATER.

It’s time to let the fries soak for 1 hour in a bowl with cold water. This process will make sure your sweet patato fries will get crunchy. Place the fries on a dry towl afterwards and dep them with a dry towel. You don’t want the fries to be wet when they go in the oven.

TIP 3: DON’T USE TO MUCH OIL (BE CREATIVE WITH HERBS)

Place the sweet patato fries in a big bowl and add herbs that you love. I often use paprika powder. The best tip to create crunchy fries is to not use to much oil. About 1 tbsp per 1 patato should do it. Mix all the fries together so the herbs and oil gets divides over the fries. Just do this with you hands, it’s much easier.

* Add salt when the fries come out of the oven. Salt creates steam in the oven and this won’t help the fries get their crunchiness on!

TIP 4: LEAVE SOME ROOM ON THE BAKING TRAY

Add the fries to a baking tray and divide them so they have enough space around them. Don’t clutter the fries because this way the fries will stay soft.

TIP 5: TWIST THE FRIES AROUND.

We want to create fries that are crunchy on every side right? That’s why it’s important to turn the fries a few times while backing them, maybe every 10 minutes? Also make sure the oven is pre heated at 180 degrees before you slide the tray into the oven. Leave the fries to bake for around 30 minutes, check the fries every once in a while to make sure they don’t burn.

TIP 6: TURN ON THE GRILL!

If you are lucky your oven might have a grill option as well. Turn this on for the last 10 minutes for extra crunchiness. Keep in mind that healthy sweet patato fries will never get as crunchy as normal fried fries. It’s definitely worth a try, because these are more delicious and better for your body!
